We will also host an opening reception on March 2nd from 6-9 and the show will be on view for Gallery Night. (Tickets for our pArty Bus (https://goo.gl/tdf5EW) include this stop).
Billi London-Gray's work deals with the relationship between language, belief, and power. The use of power, the means of its acquisition, and the manipulation of belief through language have led to historic traumas and contemporary crises that demand scrutiny. She scrutinizes the way language and beliefs are used to subjugate people. She is concerned by the rhetorical shift in our political arena, toward discounting civil discourse and privileging deaf arrogance. Her goal is to prompt her audience to rethink their assumptions and make their own critical inspections through encounters with her videos, sculptures, books, zines, sound compositions, photos, and drawings.
Billi London-Gray has exhibited throughout the United States and internationally. She is a recipient of the San Marcos Arts Advocacy Award, the McDowell Center Innovative Project Award for Visual Artists, and the Ideas in Art Award from the James S. Barnett Jr. Foundation. She co-directs the itinerant exhibition space Zosima Gallery. She holds a B.A. in theology from Criswell College and an M.A. in liberal arts from St. John’s College. She will complete her M.F.A. in intermedia studio at The University of Texas at Arlington in 2018.
